“This is announcement will be welcome news to the parents of Findlay Creek who have been waiting patiently for a new elementary school,” said Mark Fisher, the OCDSB Trustee for Gloucester-Southgate/Osgoode Township/Gloucester South-Nepean. “The investment will also include money for a purpose built childcare space at the site that will help address a critical childcare shortage in this part of the City,” added Fisher
Added MacLeod, “after years of working with the community, Trustee Fisher and the Ministry for this new public elementary school in Findlay Creek I am excited that this is finally happening. I’m looking forward to this new addition in our community”. MacLeod who is the MPP for Nepean-Carleton also pointed out, “Findlay Creek is a fast growing community with a lot of young families and many of them have worked with Trustee Fisher and me over the years to make this school a reality. I am very pleased”.
The school is being constructed to respond to growth in this ever expanding neighbourhood as well as the closure of the Ottawa Carleton District School Board’s (OCDSB) Elizabeth Park Public School in 2017, which the board leases from the Department of National Defence.
